SPONTANEOUS DRONE SHOWS INVITE ENTIRE TOWNS TO CONSIDER FELLOW ANIMALS AS EQUALS / {New Media, Earned Media, Social Media}

This idea uses the amazing technology of choreographed drones with illumination capabilities to fill the sky with a captivating message for kindness. Unannounced and out of nowhere, 500 to 1,000 drones erupt into an entertaining and engaging performance that invites us to consider the equality of all beings. There are countless angles for the message of such a show. From gentle and adorable imagery (see sample script below), to a story that leans into the “radical truth” of it all. Picture a typical Thursday summer night in Portland, Oregon - when suddenly the sky over the urban Willamette River is filled with vibrant imagery or choreographed phrases. Perhaps people watch a hard-hitting story that compares the trillions of animals in factory farms to concentration camps. Or maybe it’s a series of short facts about how the dairy, meat, seafood and egg industries are no different than how Big Tobacco used to be. {*While we prefer the angle depicted below, our point is there are many ways to go.}

DRONE SHOW SCRIPT / “EQUATIONS” / 3:00 – 6:00

OUR LIGHT DRONES ARE POSITIONED AND READY ON A BLUFF, ROOFTOP, OR IN A PARKING LOT (TBD) WITH A LARGE POPULATION NEARBY. (APPROPRIATE PERMITTING, ETC - ALL PRE-OBTAINED.)

THE SHOW BEGINS: PEOPLE WILL FIRST SEE A GIANT “QUESTION MARK” (?) IN THE NIGHT SKY.

AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS OF THIS GIANT QUESTION MARK HOVERING AND ANIMATING SLIGHTLY IN THE SKY, PULSING THROUGH DIFFERENT COLORS, WE SEE IT “MORPH” INTO… A PIG.

AS WE SEE THE PIG ANIMATE SLIGHTLY (ITS TAIL WAGGING & EARS TWITCHING, MAYBE IT EVEN “ROOTS AROUND” A BIT) WE SEE A GIANT EQUAL-SIGN ( = ) APPEAR NEXT TO IT.

NOW, TO THE RIGHT OF THE EQUAL SIGN, WE SEE THE IMAGE/OUTLINE OF A HUMAN. THIS HUMAN IMAGE ALSO ANIMATES A BIT. IT’S AS IF THE PIG AND THE HUMAN “RECOGNIZE” EACH OTHER.

NEXT, ALL THREE SYMBOLS IN THIS “EQUATION” - PIG, HUMAN AND EQUAL SIGN - WILL “MORPH” / TRANSITION INTO A HEART-SHAPED “LOVE” SYMBOL.

THIS LARGE HEART (LOVE SYMBOL) NOW PULSES FOR A BEAT OR TWO, THEN DISSOLVES AWAY, AND WE NOW WATCH AS A GIANT IMAGE OF A CHICKEN APPEARS IN THE DARK SKY. IT TOO ANIMATES A BIT BEFORE ANOTHER “EQUAL SIGN” APPEARS TO THE RIGHT OF IT.

THEN, TO THE RIGHT OF THE EQUAL SIGN, A COW IMAGE APPEARS.

THIS NEW “EQUATION” AGAIN MORPHS INTO A HEART / LOVE SYMBOL. (BY THE WAY - THESE TRANSITIONS OR “MORPHS” WOULD BE SPECTACULAR (!) - AKIN TO FIREWORKS IN THE SKY.)

WE CONTINUE THESE EQUATIONS. WE SEE A FOX IS EQUAL TO A BABY GIRL. WE SEE A FLY IS EQUAL TO A KING. WE SEE A SHARK IS EQUAL TO AN OLD LADY. A STREET PERSON EQUAL TO A MAN IN A SUIT WHICH IS EQUAL TO A FISH. THEN AN OSTRICH EQUAL TO A FOOTBALL PLAYER. NOW ANOTHER COW IS EQUAL TO A CATHOLIC PRIEST. A LOTUS-POSITION YOGI EQUAL TO ANOTHER PIG. AND SO ON.

THE FINAL “EQUATION” EXPLODES AGAIN INTO AN EVEN BIGGER HEART. WE THEN SEE A FINAL MESSAGE IN THE SKY: “IT’S TIME TO CONSUME KINDLY.”

THE CLOSING PHRASE NOW MORPHS INTO A GIANT QR CODE, AND REMAINS FOR A SOLID 15 SECONDS OR SO.

THE QR CODE GOES DARK. SHOW OVER. LET THE EARNED AND SOCIAL MEDIA MOMENTUM TAKE IT FROM HERE. (*WHEN ONE FOLLOWS THE QR CODE, THEY ARRIVE AT A SINGLE-SCROLL WEBSITE WHERE THEY LEARN MORE. THEY CAN WATCH A VIDEO FROM THE CELEBRITY BACKERS WHO FUNDED IT (OR THE BRAND THAT FUNDED IT). THE SITE CAN ALSO SHARE MORE AROUND THE “EQUAL CONSIDERATION” P.O.V., AND INVITE FOLKS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW A VEGAN LIFESTYLE AND THE PRACTICE OF KINDNESS TO ALL BEINGS AFFECTS SO MANY THINGS. THERE MAY ALSO BE SIMPLE STATISTICS ON HOW PLANT-BASED CONSUMPTION CHOICES IMPACT FELLOW ANIMALS, HUMAN HEALTH, PLANET HEALTH AND SPIRITUAL/MENTAL WELL-BEING.)

THIS WOULD BE SWEET, RIGHT? SO WHAT’S NEXT?

Well, we have identified two potential drone-show companies who can do this. We now need an investor / donor. Angel, like-minded/appropriate brand, or otherwise. Together we can capture the attention of the world with a relatively new medium. We can get attention for all the right reasons. Let’s see this happen.

NOTE: THIS COULD ALSO BE DONE BEFORE A MAJOR CONCERT. EX: Metallica are touring this fall. Imagine the stadium lights shut down completely and everyone hoots in anticipation of Metallica’s first song after a long wait since the opening band finished. But first, 500 to 1,000 drones fly up into the dark and begin lighting up show with a captivating and non-judgmental message that grabs their full attention, invites their consideration and leaves them with an impression of “wow, I never thought of it that way.” The goal is to engage the crowd (which is not there for a lecture and may even be “anti-vegan”) and pique their interest, not trigger reactivity. So the message is the most important thing. And the best kind of challenge.
