TESLA®, RIVIAN® AND FISKAR® COMPETE TO MAKE FIRST 100% VEGAN CAR / {Innovation Competition}

While some car makers offer vegan interiors, there is still no fully vegan car. That’s because so many materials used in a car’s incredibly complex production processes are at least in some part derived from animals. “The rubber and plastic used for tires may be vulcanized and toughened using tallow (mutton fat) and even the steel used for the car’s frame may have been lubricated with animal fat…” Then there’s adhesives. And wool sound proofing. And on and on. While an internet search may reveal an article or two that make it seem otherwise, there’s currently no 100% vegan car. But that same search should also show how much effort is being made to offer cars that are as “vegan-friendly” as possible. This suggests that if a car maker were to lay down the gauntlet and challenge other makers to be the first certified-vegan car, it would make a lot of buzz, garnering favor with the public and press alike. So what do you say, Elon? Fire up Twitter-X and put out a little bet to your peers.
