When I started this newsletter, I intended to send a new issue every two weeks. I quickly let it slide to every three. The last issue was September 24th. It’s now December 16th. Hey math, I see you.

I’m less and less interested in attributing a “why” to things, but the lag is largely due to a good problem to have: Ideas for Animals is cranking. I’m not complaining, but let’s just say I get enough screen time these days. I’m coming up with ideas at a rate I haven’t touched since my first years at CP+B. And I have literally always loved to lay down when I can. So this newsletter has been an easy drop. I’m OK with it. Here’s some other things I’m OK with.

My hourly rate has not been lower since I was growing weed in my closet after graduating U of O.

I’ve been saying yes, letting the anxiety squawk if it’s feeling squawky, asking for help where I can, not trying to “fix things” right away and staying with it.

Running social media for a brand is like a sprint with no finish line. Is it the ultimate test of prolific commercial creativity? What think?

Giving the benefit of the doubt is huge. Letting all things be exactly as they are cannot be practiced too often. And “things” are also thoughts and emotions.

Watching a family unite through tragedy is a hard but beautiful thing.

Doing anything in an unconventional manner takes courage. But when you really examine it, it’s only hard because of comparison, resistance and past conditioning. Which, you know, aren’t real.

Flea is 63. He has a two year old. I’m not comparing. I’m just saying, hellz yeah.

Brick & Mortar Work Tip 01: If you’re sensitive to noise to a debilitating degree at times, maybe it’s not your fault. Maybe “the answer” is to let it be that way and drop the expectation that it will ever change. Or feel better.

We’ve learned more about modern media, taxes, algorithms and the bottomless creative process in 2025 than any year previous. I think we could handle anything from Microsoft to a hemp sandal to consulting for startups or telling a Fortune 100 it’s time to pivot. And if we can’t handle it, we know smarter, younger & better agencies who can. Do call.
